Seller Agreement
Last updated September 17, 2026
Draft for launch. Have a lawyer review before onboarding real artists.
1. The one rule
You may only list work you made yourself. Original paintings, drawings, sculpture, ceramics, textile work, collage, photography you took, hand-pulled prints you pulled, limited edition prints of your own work, and jewelry you designed and made at your own bench. Our Guidelines spell out what counts and what does not; they are part of this agreement.
2. The one fee
Mauer House keeps 9% of each sale (item price plus shipping). That is the whole fee. It includes card processing. There is no listing fee, no renewal fee, no advertising fee, no subscription, and nothing to opt out of. If we ever change the fee we will email you 30 days ahead, and the new fee will apply only to sales after that date.
Worked example: a $1,000 painting with $45 shipping is $1,045 to the buyer. You receive $951.05; Mauer House keeps $93.95.
Founding artists
If you joined with an invite, your fee is the rate on that invite (for example 3.5%) for the number of months it states, counted from the day your application is approved. After that the standard 9% applies. The rate is fixed at checkout for each sale, so a sale made during your founding period is paid out at the founding rate even if it is delivered later.
3. Review before live
Every listing is looked at by a person before it appears on the site. We aim to decide within 48 hours on weekdays. We may approve, request changes, or reject, and we will always tell you why. Edits that change the images, title, type, category, medium, or edition information go back through review; price, shipping, and wording edits do not.
4. Getting paid
- Buyers pay Mauer House at checkout. We hold the money while you ship.
- We pay you 3 days after the carrier reports delivery (or after the buyer confirms receipt), to your connected Stripe account.
- If an order is refunded before payout, nothing is transferred. If it is refunded after payout, we may deduct the amount from your next payout or ask you to return it.
- You must set up a Stripe account through your studio page before your first sale can be paid out. Stripe verifies your identity and bank details; we never see your bank numbers.
5. Your obligations
- Ship within 5 business days of an order, with tracking, packed well enough to arrive safely. Enter the tracking number on your orders page; that is what tells the buyer and starts the delivery clock.
- Describe honestly. Medium, dimensions, year, condition, framing, and for prints the edition size (maximum 250), numbering, signing, and the name of any print partner.
- Photograph the real object. At least one photo of every original must show the physical piece in the real world.
- Reply to buyers within 2 business days.
- Honour your stated return policy. Damage or "not as described" claims are covered regardless of your policy.
- Keep sales on the platform. Do not use messages to arrange payment elsewhere for a work listed here.
- No manipulation. No fake "original" prices, no reviews from friends, no duplicate listings of the same one-of-one work.
6. Strikes and suspension
Listing work you did not make, drop-shipping, or selling AI-generated images earns two strikes and an immediate suspension while we look. Misrepresentation earns one. Three strike points in twelve months closes the account; pending payouts are held for the dispute window and then released for legitimate completed orders. You can appeal any decision by replying to the email we send; a different reviewer will look.
7. Rights
You keep the copyright to your work. You give Mauer House permission to show your images and words on the site, in our emails, and in our editorial features, and to let buyers save them to collections. We will never sell your images or use them to train an image model. You confirm you hold the rights to everything you upload.
8. Taxes
You are responsible for income tax on your sales. Where we are required to collect sales tax from buyers, we do it at checkout and remit it; it is not part of your payout or our fee. We will provide the tax forms the law requires.
9. Leaving
You can stop selling at any time from your studio page. Open orders must still be shipped. Sold works stay visible in your archive unless you ask us to remove them.
10. Everything else
The Terms of Service apply to you as they do to everyone. Where they conflict with this agreement on a selling matter, this agreement wins.
